Linearized Electro-Optic Racetrack Modulator Based on Double Injection Method in Silicon (1033)

We propose a novel Racetrack-based modulator of increased linearity for optical links. The modulator is referred to as FLAME - Finer Linearity Amplitude Modulation Element. Linearity is improved via the introduction of a Double Injection approach. Large SFDR of 132dB·Hz4/5 can thus be theoretically obtained. The optical design of the FLAME has been fabricated in Silicon (SOI) platform and optically characterized at the telecommunication wavelength regime (1550nm).
