One of the major challenges of today`s vehicle electrical architecture is the rapidly increasing connectivity to the outside world, and its vulnerability to cyber attacks. Many in-vehicle networks are based on Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol, that is known for its lack of authentication mechanisms and vulnerability to spoofing attacks. In this work we propose a novel method to authenticate CAN frames by identifying their source, using fingerprinting.
