THz Upconversion imaging system, based on 1.55 µm coherent electro-optical sampling method using GaAs crystal (1057)

Continuous-Wave (CW) THz radiation upconversion imaging system is described in this paper. the imaging system is based on the mature telecommunication technology of 1.55 µm single mode and narrow linewidth lasers. The generation of the THz radiation is carried out by a photomixer and two Distributed FeedBack (DFB) laser 1.55 µm lasers via a Difference Frequency Generation (DFG) process. The coherent detection is carried-out by GaAs crystal via free space electro-optical sampling.
