The work presents a feasibility study on the possible bio-radar devices usage for contactless monitoring of the laboratory animals respiratory rhythm. Experiments are performed on sleeping rats by using two SFCW radars operating at frequency ranges of 3.6-4.0 GHz and 13.8-14.2 GHz. Respiration pattern of a rat were monitored by each radar. Results analysis revealed that usage of higher probing frequencies is preferable and allows reliable estimation of respiratory pattern of a sleeping animal.
