Near field magnetic induction systems are increasingly used in short range communication and wireless power transfer systems. When the magnetic transmitter and receiver are far apart, the reactive power of the magnetic transmitter may be considerably higher than its active power, such that the reactive power becomes a main limitation in the magnetic transmitter design. This work proposes a systematic design approach for magnetic transmitters that emphasizes the limitation of reactive power.
