This paper demonstrates how compressive sensing methods may be used for locating sources of harmonic distortion in power networks. It is shown that the number of sensors required to locate a source of harmonic distortion is typically very small, and proportional to the number of suspiciuos sources, not to the size of the network. The proposed algorithm works even if the harmonic source magnitude is random and unknown, and sensors are installed in random locations.
