The electromagnetic (EM) properties of tannin-based rigid carbon foams were investigated in the 26-37 GHz microwave frequency range (Ka-band). It was estimated that EM properties of carbon foams in Ka-band can be accurately predicted by a simple model based on Fresnel formulae. Additionally we demonstrate, that the model based on long wave approximation for photonic crystals may also used to describe experimental spectra of electromagnetic response of presented carbon foams in Ka-band.
