Computer-aided design principles of nonlinear equivalent-circuit model for a microwave-band optoelectronic oscillator are proposed. Simulations of the key characteristics of the device based on a long-wavelength vertical-cavity surface emitting laser using the off-the-shelf electronic CAD tool are exemplified. A comparison with previously presented modeling results for the same laser-based 6...9 GHz-band optoelectronic oscillator using a special optoelectronic CAD tool is highlighted
