Mapping the Resistance Potential of Influenza against an Antiviral

Isaiah Arkin
Department of Biological Chemistry, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem

Viruses have always posed a serious health threat to mankind, none more so than Influenza. My talk will revolve around the influenza M2 protein and its role in the viral infectivity cycle. In particular I will show how drugs inhibit the protein and how the virus develops resistance against these antivirals. Finally, I will show an approach to map the resistance potential of the virus without any medical risk.
