GENDER BALANCE IN CHEMICAL SCIENCES IN ISRAEL

The purpose of the poster to increase the awareness of the Chemistry community in Israel to poor gender balance in the Chemistry departments in Israel. Although the % of PhD women graduates from Departments of Chemistry in the Israeli Universities is relatively high, the representation of women in the academic staff , assistant professor (senior lecturer, senior scientist), associate professor and full professor, is still low. The poster will present some statistics to highlight the current state. Comparison to some top Chemistry departments in the world will be given along with other fields in Israel. Some of the activities done at the Weizmann Institute to improve the situation will be described. We hope that this poster will trigger some discussion and will lead to some activities within the Israeli Chemical Society to encourage a heathier gender balance in Chemistry in Israel.
