Brain Monitoring with Ultrasound-Tagged Light

Non-invasive monitoring of the brain is important for ensuring adequate supply of blood and nutrients in patients suffering from traumatic brain injury, or undergoing surgery under general anesthesia. Ornim has developed a novel, non-invasive technology, based on light tagging with ultrasound waves, called ultrasound-tagged light. This is the only commercial technology available today, that enables non-invasive, continuous monitoring of blood flow [and oxygen saturation] in brain and muscle tissue. I will present the technology and clinical cases that benefit from this technology, such as monitoring of blood flow during opening of blood vessels in carotid surgery or treating a patient with ischemic stroke. Ornim’s c-Flow monitor has received FDA clearance and CE mark and is currently used in leading hospitals around the world.
