Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) - Clinical Introduction

This clinical review will introduce the cardiac conduction system and its main clinical problems, focusing on life-threatening tachycardia. The indications and contraindications for the different devices are discussed, as well as the anticipated complications. The implantation procedure and the healing process will be presented. Special emphasis will be placed on cardiac rehabilitation of these patients, including limitations and precautions during exercise.
