Background: ADHD as defined by the DSM IV (2000) is a neurobehavioral disorder characterized by inappropriate symptoms of inattention, impulsivity and motor restlessness. Literature has shown a positive correlation between sport activities and meliorated ADHD symptoms. Fencing as a sport activity is thereby anticipated to yield similar or better results.

Aims: The scope of the research is to establish that specific fencing physical activity assists in ameliorating attention, concentration and the interaction among them and at the same time the subjects learn to control their hyperactivity and channel impulsivity into controlled objectives.

Method: "Do not take the risk - Pilot test first” (De Vaus, 1993). A pilot test will be conducted with a population of 10 to 12-years-old participants diagnosed with ADHD who will be divided into an experiment group and a control group. Following, the research will include a preliminary test, research program and final test.

Results: ADHD evaluation questionnaires and physical tests will be held at the beginning and at the end of the research. At this stage only the preliminary tests have been conducted and reliability of the study was found as statistical values were high enough in order to perform the study.

Discussion and Conclusions: The results of the preliminary tests will be compared with the final results at the end of the research session. It is assumed that fencing will prove to be a beneficial factor in ameliorating ADHD symptoms, more significantly than general physical activity.
