Background: Sport dance, which is an event in modern competitive sports, is the fusion of art and sports. Obviously, due to cultural differences, people’s aesthetic views differ. These differences may also be reflected in perfectionism.

Aim and Methods: In order to explore college sport dancers’ `look in the mirror` behavior and the relationship between `look in the mirror` and perfectionism`, 130 college sports dancers participated in the study. The instruments which were employed were the Look in the Mirror Behavior Questionnaire, developed by author, and the Perfectionism Questionnaire.

Results: The results show that the score of urban college sport dancers on the Look in the Mirror Behavior Questionnaire was higher than rural college sport dancers, and male sport dancers’ score was higher than their female counterparts. The frequency of looking in the mirror every day was 0 to 5 times/day. In terms of college sport dancers` satisfaction with their own image in the mirror among the three dimensions of perfectionism, only hiding imperfection was found to be significantly different. Sport dancers with the highest score on satisfaction with their self-image in the mirror had the highest score on the dimension of hiding imperfection. This self-image dimension correlated with highest satisfaction among professional sports dance students.

Conclusion: College sport dancers’ perfectionism tendencies are at an above-average level, which is in line with the special characteristics of sport dance.
