The physical education (PE) curriculum is a theoretical-practical framework, and at the same time, a support resource from which PE teachers can cull when planning what is appropriate for them, what suits the needs and characteristics of their students and what suits the needs and characteristics of their school as an educational system.

The digital revolution and the perception of the post-modern period have led to dramatic changes in our way of life, as well as in the social structure in which we live and work. Following these changes, major developments have occurred regarding the place of knowledge taught at school, and the importance of physical activity in the daily life of the individual and the public at large. The existing gap between the current PE curriculum, its objectives, goals and content, and the characteristics of daily life, in which children grow, dictates a re-examination of the relevance of the current PE curriculum in schools.
