This session (panel) is devoted to a re-examination of the relevance of PE curriculum in schools in Israel. Six PE professionals will discuss their points of view on the existing curriculum:

Chief Inspector of PE, Avraham Zuchman, will present his view on the PE curriculum from political and systemic perspectives.

Head of the Academic College at Wingate, Ronnie Lidor, will discuss the importance of ecological validity of PE curriculum.

Chairman of the Committee for the Establishment of a New PE Curriculum, Felix Leved, will discuss the present crisis in PE in Israel, and how this crisis is taken into account in the development of a new PE curriculum for schools.

Teacher educator at the Giv`at Washington Academic College and a PE teacher in one elementary school, Miri Shachaf, will discuss the function of the curriculum in teacher preparation training as the basis of planning in teaching.

Head of the PE program at the Kibbutzim Seminar College and a teacher educator at the Academic College at Wingate, Roni Darom, will present her view on the relationship between PE curriculum and the college teacher preparation curriculum.

A PE teacher at Renanim Public School, Sigal Peled, will present a list of requests concerning the new curriculum.

Following the six presentations, a discussion focusing on a recent position stand on guidelines for PE curriculum will be conducted [1].
