Zion is of key importance throughout both Isa 40-66 and the Haggai-Malachi corpus. The present paper sets out to explore the similarities and differences between the various portrayals of Zion in these two sets of texts. Are the differences a matter of divergent geographical settings (Babylon versus Yehud), a matter of chronological concerns (sixth century versus fifth century bce), or a matter of the Sitz in der Literatur (the book of Isaiah versus the Book of the Twelve)? Furthermore, are the similarities a matter of shared historical circumstances or rather due to similar theological concerns among the redactors responsible for the two literary corpora?
