The main objective of this research is to analyze the development of the relations between Brazil and the Middle East, in particular with Israel, taking into account: 1) The deep political, economic and social crisis in Brazil since 2014; 2) Changes in the Middle East scenario, specifically those affecting Israel, such as: crisis in Syria, increased tensions between Sunnis and Shias and the growing questioning about the “two state” solution; 3) Implications of the changes in the United States Trump’s administration foreign policy, with consequences for the countries of the region, but mainly in Brazilian foreign policy to the Middle East. We seek, from a long-term perspective, what is the possible change in Brazilian foreign policy in relation to the region and if there is room for change. The hypothesis is that the Brazilian government post-impeachment, even declaring itself in favor of major changes in foreign policy, is still conditioned by long-term structural objectives.
