Wideband Absorbance in the Clinical Evaluation of Middle Ear Disorders

After introducing the principles of wideband tympanometry, this workshop will share recent peer reviewed evidence on the clinical application of absorbance measures and their relation to middle ear disorders. Case studies are shared from diverse clinicians in the world, though mainly from Joseph Kei’s group in Australia. They allow highlighting the different absorbance patterns seen in normal patients depending on age, gender and race. And of course it demonstrates the different patterns in cases with middle ear pathologies such as otitis media with effusion, patent grommets, perforations, otosclerosis, disarticulations, etc. There will be a special focus on pediatrics, how for children the diagnostic possibilities are improved compared to traditional tympanometry.
