The corpus of fragments reused in bindings, because of its amount, must be considered as a reference source for studies on Hebrew manuscripts and it is considerably enriching our knowledge on medieval Hebrew manuscripts from a material as well as from a textual, historical and cultural point of view.

It has been noted by specialists on Hebrew manuscripts reused in books bindings that philosophical and scientific manuscripts represent a little part of fragments composing the so-called “European Genizah”. The thousands of Hebrew fragments described in the BwB database represent the reach basis through which I would like to precise the classification and the interpretation of the presence of philosophical and scientific books among reused medieval Hebrew manuscripts.
