Paris of My Own: Trauma and Desire in the Works of Georges Perec and Patrick Modiano

This presentation focuses on the intersection of memory and desire in Perec`s A Man Asleep and W, and Modiano`s Dora Bruder and other novels. Using photographs from the late 1950s, it examines how Paris as a mythical city can play an active role in the working out of the traumatic loss through writing.
