This paper will try to establish continuity, literary and historical, between the oeuvre of David Albahari and pre-war Belgrade Sephardic cultural context.
Brakedown caused by the Holocaust, Albahari`s opus proves, produced no efforts in the Jewish comunity to reestablish the old, but rather caused redefining and emergence of new identity codes. This change caused the emergence of a subtatially different Jewish cultural paradigm through which new generations were interpretating the period that preceded the Catastrophe.
