Philo of Alexandria in Rome: The Intellectual Consequences of a Journey

The Book of Genesis, canonical for both the Jewish and the Christian communities, became a battle ground for constructing religious identity. Having already investigated several exegetical connections between GR and Origen, I will focus in this lecture on the notion of things that were created before the creation, comparing the opening Parashot of GR with Origen, Commentary on John.
