A small community of Aramaic speaking Jews of Georgia existed in Georgia and especially in Tbilisi from the end of the nineteenth century until 30s of twentieth century. In Georgian we used to call to this community very strange name: Lakhlokhebi (plural form of Lakhlokhi)

Speaking language of this population was Aramaic – more specifically one of the North –East Neo Aramaic dialects formerly spoken in the village Salmas near the Lake Urmi (in Iranian Azerbaijan)

This dialect is quite close to another Jewish NENA dialect of Urmi, but still has some particularities.

Subject of the lecture is verb in the Jewish Neo Aramaic Dialect of Salmas. There will be given general information about the verbal structure, its similarities to the verb structure of the closely related dialects and also differences between them.
