This paper will discuss how Israeli public discourse drew upon American neoconservative ideas, such as the invalidity of affirmative action and the welfare state, while at the same time denying the validity of American liberal and materialist culture. At the same time, leading Jewish-American neoconservative thinkers were also changing their relationship with Israel following 1967, coming around to admiring the Jewish state, while affirming their belonging in the United States.
