Detecting sources on Jewish physicians in Late Medieval Europe is relatively simple compared with the challenge to prove their practical knowledge on the basis of archival material. The points of contact between Jewish and Christian practitioners – that includes physicians, midwives and barber surgeons – in Late Medieval Regensburg will be discussed. Of special interest will be the kind of information about medical practice and treatment in Regensburg that is provided by the archival sources. The social, economic and religious environment of the individual persons will be considered as well as the context of the discussed sources.
