Medieval Masoretic manuscripts of the Bible employ different techniques to correct such scribal errors as omission, dittography, transposition, confusion of signs, etc. These errors and their corrections occur both in the consonantal text and in the vocalisation, as well as both in the main text and in the Masoretic notes. This paper studies how the errors have been corrected in the oldest manuscripts of the Tiberian tradition like Aleppo, Cairo, Leningrad, Or. 4445, Sassoon 507, and addresses the question of how these textual phenomena should be referred to in text editions.
