Speaking `Moroccan` Outside Morocco: Identity, Culture, and Language in Moroccan Jewish

Based on my recent ethnographic study of Toronto`s Moroccan Jewish community, I will be exploring some key traits of identity in the Moroccan Jewish diaspora since the mid-twentieth century. In particular I will focus on the tools of identity construction which Moroccan Jews use to either fit into their new culture, or break away from it.
