The academic project Antigo Testamento Interlinear Hebraico-Português (Engl. Old Testament Interlinear Hebrew-Portuguese) (ATI) by Edson de Faria Francisco (Sociedade Bíblica do Brasil [Engl. Brazilian Bible Society], 2012-) presents a literal translation from Biblical Hebrew into Portuguese, word by word and line by line. This Bible edition will be a set with five volumes: vol. 1: Pentateuch (2012), vol. 2: Former Prophets (2014), vol. 3: Latter Prophets (in preparation), vol. 4: Writings (future publication) and vol. 5: a Hebrew-Portuguese and Aramaic-Portuguese lexicon of ATI (future publication). In this new biblical version in Portuguese there are many references to Masoretic annotations taken from Leningrad Codex B19a (masora parva and masora magna). This is the first time in a Hebrew Bible version in Portuguese that presents references to Masoretic annotations in the translation itself and also explanations about them.

Every Masoretic note of Codex L chosen and cited in the ATI are commented and explained in the chapter “Dificuldades Textuais”. Besides the Masoretic notes are commented and explained others Masoretic particularity as the tiqqunê soferim, the puncta extraordinaria, the litterae suspensae and occurrences of hapax legomenon. The mention of these Masoretic notes and peculiarity is to show to the reader the importance and function of the Masorah to the understanding of the biblical Hebrew text of Masoretic tradition in currently academic research and also in the new translations.
