Unpublished Jewish Manuscripts and Bookbinding-Fragments from Tyrol, Austria

The country of Tyrol in the west of Austria is a cross-border region with important trading routes region relating the European South with the Nord and West with East. Medieval Traders, travelers and fleeing Jews crossed the country when coming from Germany and Italy or Switzerland, which explains the variety of manuscripts of Sephardic, Ashkenazic or Italian origin.

In this paper we want to present the general state of the bookbinding-Fragments discovered in the last years in Tyrol. Among the discoveries, we wish to present some particular examples as a Sephardic manuscript of the SMaK Lexicon, a 16^th century German translation of Meir Nativ’s Hebrew concordance authored by Antonius Margaritha a Jewish convert to Christianity and an inscription of another high-positioned Jewish convert in the beginning of the 17^th c. AD in Innsbruck.
