Unequal Rites: Jewish and Muslim Ritual Slaughter and Circumcision in Postwar Germany

Animal slaughter and circumcision are two rituals practiced similarly by both Jews and Muslims. Both have confronted similar allegations for treating in inhumane way helpless creatures. The paper will discuss the ways in which the German courts and regulators have dealt with these allegations treating Jewish and Muslim practicies differently.
