The modified Lapidus-Arthrodesis with a plantar locking plate allows early weight-bearing after the operation. However isolated cases with an early recurrence of the deformity can be observed. Additional fixation between the first and second ray is a solution to this problem.

Additional screw fixation between the base of the first and second metatarsal is a valuable adjuct to Lapidus-Arthrodesis with a plantar locking-plate.
