The Occurrence of restenosis of coronary stenotic lesions treated with the second generation drug eluting stents decreased dramatically. However, even in a few cases, additional intervention procedures were needed due to instent restenoses. In Japan, instent restenoses were often treated with drug eluting balloons. However, clinical factors that affect re-restenosis of instent restenotic lesions with drug eluting balloons remain uncertain.

Consecutive 20 cases were divided into two groups who were treated with drug eluting balloons for instent restenosis and underwent follow-up coronary angiogram after eight months. Group A were cases in whom ≧50% restenosis were shown and group B were cases in whom ≺50% lesions were shown in follow-up angiogram. There were no significant difference between the two groups in gender, age, balloon length, balloon diameter and coronary risk factors such as history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and smoking. Also no difference was seen in parameters such as HbA1c, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and triglyceride. In this study, because sample size was too small, further examination will be needed.
