OutSense Diagnostic Ltd has developed a sensor for automatic, hands-free, continuous monitoring of stool and urine. The sensor is capable of identifying traces of blood in stool - a well-established and accepted screening tool for CRC. Unlike current chemical diagnostics kits that are used once a year and suffer from medium accuracy and low compliance, the new sensor performs hundreds of measurements per year and generates warnings based on a proprietary algorithm. Any significant finding will be transferred directly to primary caregivers through digital-health platforms. As a screening tool it has the potential to improve accuracy of occult blood test due to the multiple testings preformed vs. the once a year of current standard of care. Patients compliance of the automated new method is expected to be dramatically higher.

The platform is also useful for other conditions such as management of irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, Colitis, as well as for lifestyle & personalized nutrition.

The innovative sensor applies an advanced optical system which was miniaturized to fit the size and cost of commercial clip on toilet sensor. The system utilizes a multi-spectral imaging system that extracts the optical signature of blood. By sequentially imaging at different wavelengths of choice, the sensor is able to calculate spatial distribution of blood on the stool; information that can be used in the future not only for screening but also as a diagnostic mean to differentiate between pathologies.

These optics along with further machine learning capabilities allow inspection of excretions, yield out vital information and communicate it in real time with relevant stake holders.
