Water soluble calixarene attracted considerable attention in supramolecular chemistry because of its hydrophobic cavity which allows a deeper understanding of host-guest recognition process in a solvent where most biological process occurs.1 In this work, we have synthesized water soluble calixarene by introducing sulphonic group to the upper rim of calixarene.2 Replacement of oxygen atom from the lower rim of calixarene with triple bond by selective metal catalyzed reaction provide extended conjugation system.3 These fluorescent water soluble calixarene scaffolds utilized in a chemosensory application for the detection of biological molecules.
