The Prevalence and the Factors of Risk of the Hearing Loss Among the Albanian Children

Objectives: Prevalence of hearing loss in some age categories, the dissemination of hearing loss into the Albanian children, the evaluation of risk factors which might influence the hearing loss.

Methods: "Intersectional study" which valuated the prevalence and the risks factors of hearing loss in one group of 4000 children 4-6 years old and the " Prevalence study": screening programme for the hearing loss in all children of the first classes of elementary schools of Tirana (30% of population lives in Tirana) for the period 2013 - 2016. (15112 children were included in this study).

Results: Hearing loss consists 20% of all other physical and mental handicap. 40% of the children with hearing loss has passed OM at least once. More than 50% of hearing loss causes are prenatal one.

Conclusions: In Albania two children in 1000 born with sensorineural hearing loss. The Otitis Media results to be the factor which affects the hearing into Albanian children. There is no difference in the prevalence of hearing loss between males and females. Children who lives in rural zones have high prevalence of hearing loss.
