The Effect of Universal Newborn Hearing Screening on the Age of Cochlear Implantation Is there still room for improvement?

During my Keynote lecture I will discuss the effect of UNHS screening on the age at cochlear implantation. This relation seems obvious, suggesting that earlier detection of hearing loss should lead to earlier cochlear implantation. However, many factors are in play for an effective CI program and many confounders seem to effect our results.

An attempt to evaluate our published results, with EBM in mind, could indicate that some critical self-reflection is warranted, even dough our current cochlear implant results are better than ever. The question remains, is there room for improvement?
