Background: The basic of conscious regulation of mental states are reflective processes of the individual. Considerations of the mechanism of formation of a stable individual construct influences the whole psychological image of a person. The mechanisms are fixed and stereotyped, that is automated and move to the involuntary level, slipping from the person`s attention. Thus, on the basis of the principles of the reflective approach and step by step reflective analysis of dynamics of categories of consciousness by means of certain psycho-technical actions a model was developed and the procedure of reflective regulation of mental states were tested.

Aims: The formation of awareness and an increase in the level of self-regulation of mental states.

Methods: A method of reflective regulation of mental states developed by A.V.Voshchinin. The stages of implementation of the method of reflective regulation of mental states are the following:

  1. Awareness and acceptance of mental health
  2. Analysis of the system of values (Cognitive level).
  3. Objectification of meaning and mediated systems of individual valves (Reflective level).
  4. Secondary mediation (Behavioral level).
  5. Fixation and consolidation of body sensations (Body level).
  6. Implementation of feeling the effects, experiencing a situation-specific state (Action level).
  7. Reflective analysis fixation - meaning and consolidation of obstructive mental states (Reflective level).

Results: To calculate the effects, we used qualitative analysis methods. Coefficient of awareness (CAW) and coefficient of self-regulation (CSR) were calculated. A conceptual diagram of the formation of the mental state: Situation, the image situation, the image mental state, the problem–conflict situation contents, (CAW+28,6%, CSR+49,4%), autonomous cellular excitation, vegetative response, nonverbal behavioral response (CAW+29,3%, CSR+44,1%), emotional evaluation, phenomenon of perception before perception, personal experiences (CAW+19,6%, CSR+38,6%), cognitive processes, metacognitive processes, executive function (cognitive administration) (CAW+32,9%, CSR+46,4%), stereotypical self-regulation of behavior, figurative regulation, personality defiance mechanisms of self-knowledge and coping strategies (CAW+54,1%, CSR+36,1%), stereotypical methods of determination of the problem-conflicting content of the situation, stereotypical methods of determining problem-conflicting content of consciousness (CAW+28,4%, CSR+32,5%), and mental state.

Conclusion: Based on the results of qualitative analysis categorical systems of athletes` consciousness, it was determined that developing skills of self-regulation increases awareness, integrates and differentiates the sphere of self-awareness.
