Understanding the molecular processes involved in the formation and stabilization of neuronal networks requires efficient in vitro platforms to stimulate and interrogate developing brain-like structures. To this end, we generated organotypic cultures to be dynamically stimulated with a NanoBionic interface. Dynamic imaging of fluorescent calcium reporter correlate stimulation patterns with neuronal network activity and development. This work highlights the role of stimulatory signals in the differentiation of neuronal cells and the establishment of neuronal networks.
