Tech 4x40-40: A No-Pump Technique to Possibly Save 5 Million Stroke Patients Yearly.

Andrew Yeung

Yearly more than 6 million persons die from Stroke in the Hospitals despite measures at 37°C, with very high O Requirement to be satisfied with O₂ gas.

I am proposing Tech 4X40-40 to alternatively Control Hibernate these Patients at 10°C.

In 1987, I wrote The Blue Thesis on Controlled Hibernation

Two related Poster Presentations were made:

APSC 2017-Singapore & TTS 2018 -Madrid

Tech 4X40-40 will use the Artificial Blood AB, a new preserving solution PS X40 at 4-10°C.

Metabolism is reduced to 1/7 at 15 °C ( Gibbon ) - possibly 1/15 at 10°C.

The following new life-saving technique Tech 4X40-40 is herein Proposed :

The Stroke Patients are deeply anesthetized and immersed into circulating water at 4 °C in vessels in cold rooms at 10 °C to effect surface cooling: This is Tech 4.

A femoral artery FA and a Femoral vein FV catheter are inserted after exposure of the Femoral Vessels.

AB ( PS X40 ) is infused at 40 m Hg pressure without a pump into the FA Catheter to additionally core-cool and to satisfy the O Requirement of the Patients for 40 days: This is Tech 4X40-40.

Self-healing for hemorrhagic stroke.

Thrombectomy or embolectomy for ischemic stroke.

The Patients are then revived through cardiopulmonary bypass with Heart-Lung Machines.

Tech 4X40-40 possibly will give the following results:

(1)Survivors – possibly 5 million yearly.

(2)Brain Death Patients - possibly 1 million yearly.
