Comparison of Oral Health Children’s Affected by ECC Related Quality of Life Pre and Post Dental Treatment Under General Anesthesia using F-ECOHIS Questionnaire

Background: Tooth decay in its severe form witch is called early childhood caries (ECC) has impact on child growth and development. Children diagnosed with ECC weighed less than the matched control group due to the impact of pain and dysfunction on child eating and sleeping habit.

Method: Oral health related quality of life (OHRQOL) is measured by different tools. In pre –school children pahel development ECOHIS questionnaire which was validated in local languages was used.

Parents of children under 5 years old attending to clinics for providing complete dental treatment under general anesthesia in Tehran clinics entered the study after ethical clearance and asked to fill in the Farsi version of ECOHIS questionnaire.

Results: In this study significant improvement was observed in both child and parent sections.in the CFD domain the mean score 5.08 ±3.5 was significantly improved in the follow up sessions.

Conclusion: This study showed significant improvement of oral health related quality of life of children and specially their parents after dental rehabilitation.
