Analysis of Flood Control Benefit of Three Gorges Project

Three Gorges Project controls over 95% of water flow in Jingjiang reach，Its main task is to prevent floods in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, especially the Jingjiang River. And It is a key backbone project for harnessing the development of the Yangtze River and can greatly enhance the reliability and flexibility of flood control dispatch in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. This article elaborates the flood control and dispatching methods of the Three Gorges Project. Combined with the practice of flood control and dispatching of the Three Gorges Project in recent years, Analyzed the effect and benefit of the Three Gorges Project in flood control. Summarizes the joint flood control action of the cascade reservoirs with the Three Gorges as the core in the Yangtze River Basin in 2017, Simulated and analyzed the role of cascade reservoirs in preventing floods in 1954 and 1998. Provide guidance for future flood control.
