Polydiacetylenes (PDAs) have attracted considerable interest due to their applications in nonlinear optics, microlithography, optical memory recording, sensing, etc.1 They exhibit unique chemical, optical and electronic properties. PDAs are conjugated organic polymers with alternating double and triple bond groups in the main polymer chain. Synthesis of various DA derivatives has been developed in our laboratory and used as colorimetric sensors.2,3 PDA compromising with polymers can have high gas sensitivity due to the porous nature of the polymer. The present study address the fabrication of various PDA-polymer composite thin films on inter digitated electrodes and used as capacitance based gas sensors.4 DAs with polar (acid, melamine, etc.) and nonpolar head groups (Phenoxy) are used and explored their application in sensing for both polar (EtOH, n-propanol, Isopropanol, n-butanol, n-propanol and DMF) and less-polar (Acetone and THF) vapors.
