In order to meet the urban flood control standard of 100-year flood, an underground reservoirs with a storage capacity of 100,000m3 is designed and constructed at the Liangmaoshan Depot of Shenzhen Metro Line 10, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

The Liangmaoshan Depot is located in the east of the Xiufeng Road, Longgang District, Shenzhen. The Depot length is 800m from east to west, and the width is 130m to 330m from north to south. The Depot consists of double-layer parking inspection halls, joint maintenance house, comprehensive building, material warehouse, comprehensive maintenance center, power substation, and flammable goods store. The land area is 29.57 ha and total architecture area is 24.6ha. The land area is 515 m2 per train, which is far smaller than the traditional depot.

In order to maximize land use, a lot of new and innovative techniques such as mirror surface concrete, green roof, underground reservoir, green construction and total safety management were adopted according to the multiple land use, ecological design and the 100-year flood control standard. The main buildings were designed into three-layer structures or four-layer structures. The double-layer parking inspection halls are composed of two-layer structures and partially three-layer structures. The maximum height of each layer is 15m, and the total height of the Depot is 49m.

The original Zhukeng Reservoir was replaced by the newly constructed underground reservoir located in the lowest layer of the Depot. The stormwater in the underground reservoir is discharged in to the urban drainage system through the flood discharge channels, culverts, tunnels and other facilities. The underground reservoir is constructed as a part of the sponge city facilities.

The construction of the Liangmaoshan Depot began in October 2015, the underground reservoir was completed in 2016, and the whole project will be finished in early 2020. The planned construction period is 54 months.
