In this study, new applications of sand-water coupling model are presented for showing interactions between scouring waves and the surf zone morphodynamics. The numerical solution is based on the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) framework combined with the yielding, shear and suspension layer from a hydrodynamics prospective for beach erosion phenomena. The multi-phase model has been carried out to investigate the dynamics and characteristics of beach profile evolution related to the wave propagation. In
general, the numerical results were found to compare well with experimental measurements. Further, more simulations are performed over different variables, such as beach slopes, density of sand and wave height or time period for characterizing sand erosion. The results of this study show that this method provides a useful tool to predict the wave damage in term of coastal and bank protection.
