This study is dedicated to the management of the activities for protection of the maritime environment surrounding ports under the European law. Its actuality is determined by the increasing degradation of the marine environment on a global level. The attention is paid to two groups of current problems of the environmental maritime policy: a) related to implementation of EU/national legislations in the commercial port activities and the environmental protection measures b) related to the introduction of the environmental management systems (EMS) in the maritime sector and port activities with the contribution of ICT tools. The article proposes innovative tools as eco mapping and electronic educational platform with personal training for introduction and application of the EU legislation for implementation of the environmental protection activities.

Finally some general considerations and recommendations are given in order to achieve and ensure implementation of EU Strategy for the Balkan-Med region.

This study was supported by Project „Environmental Protection of Areas Surrounding Ports using Innovative Learning Tools for Legislation - ECOPORTIL” with code BMP1/2.3/2622/2017 under the Program on Transnational Cooperation “Balkans-Mediterranean 2014-2020” of the European Union.
