Reduced Incidence of LV Thrombus (LVT) and Mortality in Patients(pts) with ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction(STEMI) Undergoing Primary PCI (PPCI) Treated with Prasugrel and Ticagrelor (PrTic)

The prevalence of LVT in STEMI patients ranges from 5-20% and has decreased with the use of reperfusion therapies . The effect of new antiaggregants has not been explored so far .

Aims: To compare the incidence of LVT and all cause mortality in patients with anterior STEMI undergoing primary PCI receiving PrTic with patients receiving clopidogrel.

Methods: Between 1/2001 -10/2018 all pts with STEMI who underwent PPCI and had documented post procedure echo-doppler during admission were included in the study. Retrospective analyses included comparisons between pts that developed LVT and those who did not.

Results: 2767 STEMI pts (Mean age 61.5±13 years, 18.4% female) were included in the study, LVT was detected in 185 (6.7%). Pts in LVT group were younger, more likely to have anterior STEMI and impaired LV function. LVT rates were 4.6% in pts treated with PrTic and 8.9% in pts treated with Clopidogrel , p

Conclusions: Comparing to Clopidogrel, treatment with PrTic in STEMI patient undergoing PPCI was associated with reduced incidence of LV thrombus as well as lower mortality rate.
