Nitrogen has a vital place in the environment especially for the plants and it exists in many forms through the nitrogen cycle. It has many organic and inorganic compounds. Nitrate (NO3-N), nitrite (NO2-N) and ammonium (NH4-N) are the three important and crucial compounds of nitrogen. They can be exsisted in the water naturally or unnaturally and also they have permissible limits for the different water resources, as well for the surface water. NO3-N, NO2-N and NH4-N concentrations of Garzan River which is located in the southeastern part of Turkey were analysed in the present study. Water samples from the river measured bimonthly in the time period of 1999. Eventually the results of the analysis were interpreted and evaluated for the purposes of different water utilization.
