Youth Work Education: Creating Opportunities for Children and Young People via Multicultural Understanding and Collaboration
Educating future youth workers requires a broad range of skills, strong connections to the community, and an openness to learn from others. In order to accomplish the conference goal to create better future opportunities for children in multicultural societies it is important to come together as educators and professionals in child and youth care we have an opportunity to come together to learn from one another and build partnerships to support student develop across the world.
As an educator, and a member of the Child and Youth Care Certification Board serving North America, I would like to support a roundtable discussion to share and learn more about:
- ​​Curricula and competency development in a wide range of institutions
- Best practices and new teaching modalities
- Service learning and active learning efforts
- Identifying potential partners that would be interested in connecting students from across the world
- Building a higher education database to allow for intentional and ongoing discussions and collaboration to address the complexities of global societies
Participants will be given an opportunity to share their contact information allowing for the development of an electronic source for sharing resources, best practices, partnerships and opportunities to bring together students to facilitate intercultural learning focused specifically on preparing youth work professionals.
