Lost & Found – Youth Identity in Out-Of-Home Care
Being a teenager, building your identity struggling to find who you are, where you belong to, what relationship you have or wish to have with peer groups, friends and family; with all the social and family expectation, is not easy.
Being a teenager, building your identity when you cope with educational, emotional and mental challenges; while living in a residential care unit away from home, deprived of family support, or an abusing family to separate from, growing with a stigma in society; is much more complicated.
In our workshop we will talk about the challenges teens and kids at risk have, defining their identity. We will share programs we build in Ahava children and youth residential homes. We will share challenges we are coping with, small successes and some question marks we have.
The workshop will include a short film we will produce for the conference, presentation and open discussion.
We hope to meet people from different places in the world, so part of the workshop will give all of us a chance to hear about similar & different challenges and solutions.
